SilkThimble
I'm a life-long sewer and needleworker. I've tried all sorts of needle arts - crochet, beadwork, knitting, embroidery, cross stitch - if it involves a needle and fiber, I've probably given it a go.
I also love baking, travel, reading, geeky tech gadgets, and writing, so expect to see plenty of hubs on those topics. Throw in some sci-fi, anime, fan conventions, and costuming, and you have a pretty eclectic mix.
I've started writing about some more advanced sewing projects at my blog Silk Thimble. For posts related to benefits, health insurance, and human resources (my profession), check out Benefits Geek. I've worked in the HR/Benefits field for about 15 years and hope to offer some insights into what can be a really confusing area, particularly in today's changing environment.
I'm definitely a perpetual student, always looking to learn new things. This is reflected in my multiple returns to school over the year. In addition to my B.A. in Anthropology, I have a Master's in Information Science and my Juris Doctor. The day I returned to work after taking the bar exam, my assisant asked me when I was going to start working on my Ph.D.
I'm thinking about it.
(And it will be in Art History with an emphasis on cross-cultural influences in architecture and public spaces.)
